Bloody March 8 for women in Israel: raped, tortured, killed and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists

Yesterday, March 7, 5 months have passed since the massacre by HAMAS terrorists on innocent civilians in Israel as well as on a military base where young men and women of 18 years of age did their mandatory military training. The terrorists committed acts of rare brutality on Israelis, filming their sadistic attacks on innocent families having breakfast, on peaceful young people attending a techno music festival and on young recruits.

From the first moments after the horrifying attack, one thing became clear: the women attacked were primarily the victims of the terrorists’ sadistic sexual violence. Dozens of womens bodies stripped, tied and mutilated in the genital area showed from the first moment the harsh reality: the terrorists unleashed extreme sexual violence on women of all ages, from girls to grandmothers. The images of the 19-year-old Jewish young woman with bloody pajama pants, kidnapped with her hands tied by terrorists also showed the fate that she and others like her were to endure in HAMAS captivity. Naama Levy is still being held captive by terrorists, for 153 days! Her mother does not know if she is dead or alive and desperately asks the world to do something to save her daughter.

Although this evidence existed even before the massacre even ended, thanks to the performative live video recordings of the terrorists on social networks, the United Nations and especially its department dedicated to women’s rights (UN Women) hesitated and delayed for a long time to attest, deplore and condemn the terrorist group HAMAS for the horrors committed against the people and especially against the women of Israel. This lack of reaction stunned everyone who fights with honesty and impartiality for the rights of all women. For months, our organization has watched as major Western human rights forums ignore and trivialize the suffering and brutal death of women in Israel, with 19 Israeli women still being held captive by terrorists. If in the last decade the slogans #METOO and #BELIEVEWOMEN have become fundamental principles in the fight to end violence and sexual harassment against women all over the world , after October 7th we suddenly we were shocked to realize that these did not apply to Israeli women when they are victims of extreme sexual violence. This instance of moral bankruptcy of the UN made it clear for us that the fight for the rights of ALL WOMEN must be resumed on a much closer front than we ever thought!

153 days since their abduction, it is important to say their names, mourn those killed in captivity and firmly demand the release of those still alive:

The five women whose bodies are still being held in Gaza are:

  • Judy Weinstein-Haggai, 70, killed on October 7 and her body taken by terrorists to Gaza
  • Ofra Keidar, 70, kidnapped from her home
  • Maya Goren, 56, kidnapped from her home
  • Shani Louk, 22, abducted from the Nova festival, whose lifeless body was dragged through the streets of Gaza
  • Inbar Heiman, 27, was also taken hostage at the Supernova festival and later killed in Gaza

Captive women believed to be still alive:

  • Naama Levy, 19 years old
  • Noa Argamani, 26 years old
  • Romi Gonen, 23 years old
  • Arbel Yehud, 28 years old
  • Carmel Gat, 39 years old
  • Eden Yerushalmi, 24 years old
  • Doron Steinbrecher, 30 years old
  • Liri Albag, 18 years old
  • Daniella Gilboa, 19 years old
  • Shiri Bibas, 32 years old
  • Karina Ariev, 19 years old
  • Agam Berger, 19 years old
  • Emily Damari, 27 years old
  • Amit Esther Buskila, 28 years old

On this day the whole world has a moral duty to say the names of the hostages in Israel. Without their release and the release of all hostages, Israeli families, communities and people cannot and must not find the peace of mind necessary for political peace. Nothing good for the Middle East can begin with anything other than the release of all the innocent people kidnapped by terrorists! (Ana Maita, President of the Mothers for Mothers Association)

Almost 5 months after the HAMAS attack, the UN General Secretariat for Sexual Violence in Conflicts published the Report of its special representative following the mission they undertook in Israel where they confirmed the fact that the Hamas terrorists, in their „fight for freedom”, systematically raped, tortured and killed dozens of Israeli women of all ages. Moreover, it also attests to the fact that kidnapped Israeli women, including children, were also subjected to sexual violence and that, most likely, the captives still suffer in the terror tunnels where they are held.

HERE you can consult the report (at the beginning of which it is mentioned that certain details were not included in order to be made public):

A detailed report, for those who are not afraid to face the grim reality of the horrors committed by HAMAS on women in Israel on October 7, 2023, was published as early as February 2024 by the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, whose Director Executive, Ms. Orit Sulitzeanu, declared:

Seven years since the #MeToo movement erupted, a quarter of a century after the Kosovo War in which the use of sexual violence in warfare entered public discourse, decades of feminist struggle to break the walls of silence and denial surrounding sexual assault – and the world is silent once again.
Against this incomprehensible silence, the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel (ARCCI) released the report before you, which examines the sexual and gender-based violence perpetrated in the massacre of October 7, 2023 and the war that ensued.
The information and testimonies we provide clarify beyond any doubt what occurred, but significant parts of the story are still ahead of us.
Since sexual assault typically involves delayed disclosure, especially during wartime, the picture presented in the report is still preliminary.
In the months and years to come, depending on the choices of the survivors, we may be able to bring a fuller story of the sexual assaults on October 7 and thereafter to the fore.

The ARCCI Report can be consulted HERE (caution, it contains reports that may affect you emotionally!)

We therefore mourn the suffering endured by women in Israel from October 7, 2023 until now and we mourn the similar fate of women from Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Iran who suffer and lose their lives due to the cruelties of Islamist radicals of all kinds.
